Eligibility Criteria for M.Phil Library and Information Science
1. Students should have passed a master's degree in science, arts or engineering, etc.
2. Candidates need to acquire 55% marks in the subject chosen for M.Phil. course or an allied subject at the postgraduate level to be considered eligible for the course.
3. A written test may be conducted to assess the candidate’s knowledge. Those who qualify for the written test will be required to appear in an interview.
4. In the case where Grade points are not awarded only marks are awarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60% marks for the General/OBC/UPS category and 50% marks for SC/ST/DAC category.
5. The admission procedure and mode of selection for admission to Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) through distance learning, however, may vary from one Institute to another.
Admission Process
1. Colleges publish notice of admission on their website from a period of June when most Indian universities would have finished degree exams.
2. Candidate to apply for each college, as each college considers each mark as the cut-off mark.
3. Some private colleges and deemed universities perform their counselling process by conducting their university-level entrance exams.
4. Candidates who qualify for the test are called for an interview before the final seat allotment.
